Job description

We are looking for a Senior SDET to engineer fully automated testing for all of our development teams, lead the testing chapter and help raise the bar for testing at KUBUS!

Who are we?

KUBUS has been supplying the architecture and construction industries with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software since 1992, from design software to tools for model checking, issue management and document management. With BIMcollab, our flagship product suite, we are the market leader in BIM quality management, while stimulating BIM-based collaboration throughout the whole lifecycle of buildings or infrastructure. Our platform enables users to create and use a Digital Twin that becomes the single source of truth, from design and construction to management and maintenance.

We empower users to create and maintain high-quality buildings that are circular, energy efficient, and offer a safe environment. We shape the construction industry by facilitating an integrated BIM process with fast, innovative, and user-friendly solutions that integrate with all popular BIM tools. Through high-quality, service-oriented support we let our users experience the power and joy of a smooth BIM process.

We are a firm believer in the circular economy and are an advocate of circular construction. Our software solutions contribute to the responsible use of our scarce resources. Enabling more sustainable decisions to be made from design to construction and then repurpose these materials during demolition. In our internal operations, we strive to be CO2 neutral. For example, the headquarters is virtually carbon-neutral and KUBUS offsets all CO2 emissions by planting new trees in cooperation with Trees For All, of which we are a forest partner.

Our tech stack

  • Backend: .NET, C#, C++, MS SQL Server.
  • Frontend: Vue/React, TypeScript, Pinia, Tailwind, Headless UI.
  • Tools: Playwright , xUnit, Azure DevOps, Figma.

About your role

Our aim for testing at KUBUS is all about automation and thereby software engineering. The development teams write integration tests, component tests, and of course unit tests, with a preference for TDD. Your focus is to architect, design, and implement end-end tests that check UIs, REST APIs, documents, and more. You define the test approach and continuously push the state of testing in KUBUS, for example with fuzzing or load testing.

Our Engineering department consists of over 40 Engineers, Product Owners, Designers, Testers and Agile Coaches, divided into 7 Scrum teams. The scope of this position will be covering all of our development teams, but initially you will be joining one of our cross-functional teams, help them improve their testing standards and then move on to the next team. You will also be the Chapter Lead of our Testing chapter and mentor the other (QA) Engineers on everything related to testing and automation.

Job requirements

What will make you successful in this role

  • You have 5+ years of automated test development. Ideally you have experience with high-load applications and understand the complexities that come along with that.
  • You have a solid grasp of programming and what it takes to create high quality code; real experience in Javascript/Typescript is essential.
  • You have a passion for quality. You know the quirks of testing at the various levels of a web stack and are well versed in writing tests from unit tests to end-end tests.
  • You quickly grasp the essence of a new development with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Experience in end-end testing tech, such as Cypress, Playwright, JMeter, or TestCafe surely helps.

Bonus points

  • Know your way around Vue.
  • Have DevOps experience (ideally with Azure and Azure DevOps), that’ll definitely help in deploying E2E tests.
  • You have experience in leading a testing chapter or in training/mentoring (QA) Engineers on best practices in automated testing.
  • Experience with automating end-to-end desktop testing
